Ivy Namu has confirmed the end of her relationship with well-known media personality Willis Raburu. The announcement marks the conclusion of a partnership that has been closely followed by the public for several years.

A brief announcement

Namu shared the news of the split through her social media channels. She chose a direct and simple approach to inform her followers. On her Instagram stories, she posted a message featuring white text set against a plain black background.

The post was short and did not provide specific reasons for the breakdown of the relationship. Instead, it focused on the decision itself and a request for personal space.

"Willis Raburu & I have decided to go our separate ways. Kindly respect our privacy at this moment,” she posted.

From a birthday proposal to parenthood

The couple’s journey reached a significant milestone on 3 July 2022. During a celebration for their son’s first birthday, Willis Raburu staged a surprise proposal.

The event was a romantic affair. Raburu arranged for a serenade by popular musicians Nviiri and Ben Soul. He then went down on one knee to ask for Namu’s hand in marriage.

The couple shares 2 young children, and their family life has often been a topic of interest for their fans.

A season of celebrity breakups

This announcement is the latest in a string of high-profile separations in the East African entertainment industry. Just weeks ago, on 21 May 2026, award-winning singer Nadia Mukami confirmed her breakup from her long-time partner, Arrow Bwoy.

Nadia revealed that she had been weighing the decision for 18 months. She described the difficulty of balancing a demanding career with the responsibilities of being a mother to a young toddler.

"Balancing motherhood, healing work, and public life while vying to remain strong for my children has been one of the hardest experiences I have faced."

Nadia and Arrow Bwoy, who got engaged in 2022, have since committed to co-parenting their children with "love, respect and maturity".

Zari and Shakib part ways

The trend of major splits continued into June. On 12 June 2026, Ugandan businesswoman Zari Hassan and her husband Shakib Cham announced they were ending their five-year romance.

The pair had married in a private Islamic ceremony in South Africa on 16 April 2023. In a joint statement, they cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split after half a decade together.

"After 5 years, after reflection and deep thought, we believe it is better for us to separate due to differences that cannot be reconciled."

While Zari and Shakib did not have any children together, Zari continues to co-parent two children from her previous high-profile relationship with Diamond Platnumz.
