Raila Odinga Junior has fulfilled a promise to restore his late father’s beloved vehicle. The eye-catching red-wine Hummer, which had been grounded and left stationary for a considerable period, is back on its wheels.
The vehicle had become a familiar sight parked in a static position, often covered by a protective sheet. It appeared weathered and dormant, a stark contrast to its former glory.
Raila Jr Breaks Silence
Following the extensive refurbishment, Raila Jnr shared a photo standing proudly next to the rejuvenated Hummer.
Dressed in a yellow shirt and a fedora hat, he posed beside the polished vehicle, signifying the end of the long restoration journey.
Raila Jr revealed that initially he intended to take the car straight to his father’s museum, but he will be forced to delay the plans further to allow Kenyans to enjoy the car first.

“A story of restoration, my initial idea was to take it to the museum, though I’d like Kenyans to interact with it before I do,” he captioned.

A Promise Kept
In December 2025, Raila Jnr made a public vow to honour his father’s legacy by refurbishing the iconic car. He shared his commitment to bringing the machine back to its prime condition, a task he has now successfully completed.
The transition from a grounded vehicle to a refurbished masterpiece has been significant. A video showcasing the restored Hummer reveals a gleaming, polished exterior, reflecting the painstaking work involved in the restoration process.
The deep red-wine paint now shines under the light, highlighting the care taken to return the car to its original, impressive state.
“My intention is to restore and take it to the museum at Kango Ka Jaramogi,” he said on December.

Honouring a Legacy
The Hummer, registered as KAX 950C, was a standout vehicle in Raila Odinga’s fleet. The restoration has not only preserved a piece of automotive history but also serves as a poignant tribute to the former Prime Minister.
The iconic "Hammer" associated with the late Raila Odinga is a striking red 2007 Hummer H3. Gifted to him ahead of the 2007 general election by businessman Don Bosco Gichana, it was transformed into a rolling campaign vehicle that featured high-decibel speakers and came to symbolize his campaign's aggressive "Nyundo" (Hammer) presence.
