Kenyan media personality and Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor Jalang'o has left social media users entertained after openly asking followers to explain how money is made on TikTok.
Despite having more than one million followers on the platform, Jalang’o admitted he still did not understand how creators generate income from the app.

In a video shared on his TikTok account, Jalang’o directly asked followers to explain how creators make money on the platform.
“Majamaa, nimefika 1 million followers hapa kwa TikTok. Niko tu na swali: mtu humake pesa aje kwa hii app yenu? Pesa inatengenezwaje kwa hii app? Nawaomba mniambie, hawa 1 million tutatengeneza pesa aje? Meanwhile, Manchester bado ni mbaya!”

The video attracted more than 1,700 comments, with many followers finding humour in the fact that Jalang’o seemed unfamiliar with TikTok monetisation despite his massive following.
A large number of users mocked him for reportedly following only one account while expecting support from over one million followers.
“Uliza, that one follower you are following,” one fan commented.
Another wrote:

Others joked that the MP simply needed to start livestreaming and ask fans for virtual gifts.
“Fungua live tu taptap,” one user wrote.
“Tap tap the screen, send roses,” another added.
Some fans also joked that Jalang’o was too financially stable to be worried about TikTok money.

Jalang’o’s question also reopened discussions about how creators actually make money on TikTok.
In a past interview with Mpasho, Kenyan TikToker Mohamed Alby explained that creators can earn through monetisation programmes, brand partnerships, livestream gifts, and creator support programmes.
“TikTok pays especially after monetisation and after getting the blue tick,” Alby said.
Germany-based Kenyan TikToker Nyako has also recently encouraged followers to learn how creators make money during livestreams.
“Check how these TikTokers earn every day on TikLeap. Be mean with what you have,” Nyako said during one of her livestreams.
