Wajackoyah Celebrates Son’s US Army Milestone

Former presidential aspirant and lawyer George Wajackoyah is celebrating a proud family moment after his son, Obunga, graduated from a United States Army training programme in North Carolina.

The former Roots Party leader shared the news on social media, posting photos from the colourful ceremony attended by close family members and military officers.

The graduation took place at Campbell University, a private university in North Carolina known for its Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) programme that prepares students for leadership roles in the US military.

Family Turns Up for Obunga

Wajackoyah, who travelled to the United States for the occasion, said the family gathered to support Obunga as he marked the important milestone in his academic and military journey.

The politician appeared delighted in the photos, posing alongside relatives and the young officer during the sunny outdoor event.

“Today we attended the graduation of our son, Lieutenant Obunga, at Campbell University, North Carolina. We are praying that he will soon be commissioned as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army,” Wajackoyah wrote.

The outspoken professor also encouraged his son to continue pursuing education even as he advances in military service.

“He has made us proud. A PhD is the way to go, Lieutenant, as you progress to the next rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army,” he added.

Kenyans Congratulate Obunga

Following the post, many Kenyans took to social media to congratulate Obunga and applaud Wajackoyah for supporting his son’s education and military career abroad.

Some praised the family’s academic achievements, while others reflected on Wajackoyah’s difficult journey, including the years he spent in exile before returning to Kenya and entering politics.

Donaphone Owango also celebrated the young officer’s achievement.

“Congratulations are in order, Lieutenant. May I live long enough to see my children graduate in Jesus’ name.”

Another user, John Imanene, reflected on Wajackoyah’s past struggles and resilience.

“Congratulations to your son. When they forced you into exile, little did they know they were blessing you enormously. You continue to be a man of many achievements, and you are not done yet.”
