Sonko Sparks Debate After Sharing HIV Test Result

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has once again stirred conversation online after publicly sharing the results of his HIV test during a routine medical check-up.

The politician posted a video on social media showing medical practitioners conducting several health tests as part of his ongoing fitness and weight-loss journey. The clip captured checks on his blood sugar, cholesterol, uric acid and blood pressure levels before an HIV test was carried out.

During the session, Sonko appeared briefly worried after mistakenly thinking the HIV test kit had displayed two lines, which would have indicated a positive result.

The former governor also used the session to update fans on his health progress. He revealed that he currently weighs 80 kilograms, saying he had gained one kilogram while travelling during the burial arrangements of the late Anita Mugweru.

Sonko has in recent months frequently documented his fitness journey online, often sharing workout clips and medical updates with his followers.

While some social media users praised him for openly discussing health matters, others criticised the medical procedures shown in the clip, particularly how the blood pressure and HIV tests were conducted.

Several viewers questioned why the nurse was not wearing gloves, while others pointed out that proper blood pressure readings require the patient to rest before testing.
