President William Ruto on Thursday presided over the swearing-in of Mohamed Abdullahi Warsame as Kenya’s newest Supreme Court judge in a ceremony held at State House Nairobi.

Justice Warsame officially joined the country’s highest court after his elevation from the Court of Appeal, filling the vacancy left by the late Justice Mohammed Ibrahim.

The solemn ceremony began with Justice Warsame taking the oath of office before Martha Koome before signing official documents to confirm his appointment.

President Ruto, accompanied by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, witnessed the signing before joining members of the judiciary for a commemorative group photograph.

The president said the judge’s experience would help strengthen public confidence in the Supreme Court and reinforce constitutionalism in the country.

He also urged the judiciary to remain firm in upholding justice and protecting the rule of law.

Chief Justice Koome hailed Warsame’s performance during the Judicial Service Commission interviews, highlighting his high case clearance rate and commitment to fairness.

The event also saw lawyers Evans Nthiga and Jedidah Waruhiu conferred with Senior Counsel status, marking another key moment for the legal fraternity.
