Kenyan content creator and media personality Azziad Nasenya has been named Digital Spokesperson for Sub-Saharan Africa by Maybelline New York, becoming the first East African to secure such a role with the global beauty company.

The announcement marks a milestone not just for her career, but also for regional representation in international beauty campaigns.
Azziad shared the news with her followers in an emotional post, describing the moment as both historic and deeply personal.
“This is history… I’ve officially been introduced as Maybelline New York’s Digital Spokesperson for Sub-Saharan Africa, and what makes this so surreal is that it has never been done before, not in Kenya, not in East Africa…”
She added that the opportunity signals a wider cultural shift in global beauty narratives.
“A global beauty brand choosing a digital voice from here to represent an entire region means we’re no longer just watching global conversations, we are part of them… this is bigger than a title, it’s representation, it’s impact.”

Addressing Claims and Public Scrutiny

The milestone comes months after Azziad publicly addressed claims about allegedly funding her lifestyle through loans.

Speaking in a video shared via Sound City, where she works as a radio presenter, she dismissed the allegations and maintained that her success is built on consistency and work.
“Your truth is not up for debate. Your work will always outlive the gossip.”
She also questioned why young women’s success is often doubted, urging her audience to remain focused despite public scrutiny.
Separately, she moved to court over a dispute involving her Kileleshwa apartment, seeking to halt a planned auction linked to a mortgage arrangement. She argued that the move to recall the loan was premature and unlawful, stating she had cleared the arrears.

“This Is Only the Beginning”

For Azziad, the new role represents more than a personal milestone. It reflects a broader shift in how African creators are represented globally.
