The party has intensified efforts to rebuild its grassroots networks at the Coast.

National chairperson Vincent Kemosi, a former West Mugirango MP, made the declaration during a tour of the party’s new office in the upmarket Kizingo area on Thursday.

He said the facility, expected to be officially opened within the next two weeks, will serve as a key coordination hub for Jubilee’s renewed political push in the region.

“Our target here in Mombasa is 60 per cent. So we have to work hard and put in a lot of effort to achieve that share of elective positions in Mombasa next year,” he said.

Mombasa is perceived to be an ODM stronghold, but the party’s influence has declined over the years.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s death last October is also believed to have reduced the party’s popularity in the region.

Kemosi noted that Jubilee’s strategy will focus on aggressive grassroots engagement, recruitment of new members and identification of strong aspirants across all levels.

“The strategy of 60 per cent depends on our track record when the Jubilee Party was in power for 10 years, and also engaging directly with the residents, because this is a political issue. The people who make decisions are the residents,” he said.

He added that the visit was aimed at assessing preparedness ahead of the office launch and aligning local leadership with the party’s broader 2027 strategy.

“The main reason for me to be here today is to see the office that we are planning to open in one or two weeks,” he said, adding that the launch will be presided over by Jubilee deputy party leader Fred Matiang’i.

Kemosi said the party has already secured the office and held consultative meetings with county officials and branch leadership, who expressed readiness to work closely with the national office.

“They have told us that they are ready to cooperate with the head office, so that we ensure we have aspirants in all positions in Mombasa,” he said.

He emphasised that Jubilee plans to field candidates across the board, from MCA seats to the presidency, as part of its national reorganisation.

“We are ready to have candidates from all levels and we will support our presidential candidate, Fred Matiang’i,” he said.

Kemosi further revealed that the party is compiling a database of aspirants and will convene meetings at ward, constituency and county levels ahead of the office opening to streamline its campaign structures.

He expressed confidence that the combination of a strong grassroots strategy and the new office will reposition Jubilee as a competitive force in Mombasa politics ahead of the 2027 polls.
