Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang recently appeared on the Tubonge podcast with host Chris the Bass. During the interview, he shared rare insights into his private life and his close bond with President William Ruto.
The Senator described the President as a father figure who takes a keen interest in his personal welfare. Beyond political strategy, Ruto has become a primary source of guidance for the Senator’s young marriage.

'Have Many Children'
When asked about the best advice he ever received from the President regarding his union, Chesang revealed it was quite direct. Ruto urged the young Senator not to delay in growing his family.
The President’s specific instruction was for Chesang to "produce" and have as many children as possible right away.
“The one marriage advice the president gave me is that I should have as many children as possible, nisichelewe,” Chesang said.
A Persistent Mentor
The mentorship did not end at the wedding ceremony. Chesang told the podcast that the President still checks in on him regularly. Ruto often calls to ask how his wife is doing and how the family is settling in.
“The president is a friend, he is like a father to me. He has been with me in this journey, even when he was the deputy president. He was really encouraging me about getting a wife, you know I was telling him about the challenges I was facing that were delaying me from committing myself.”

Durng the podcast, the host noted that the Senator was not wearing his wedding ring. Chesang explained that he sometimes removes the ring if it becomes too loose or if he is worried about losing it.

Ruto also advises him on the importance of work-life balance. He has told the Senator to "calm down" and create dedicated time for his family despite the pressures of the Senate.
The Cost of Politics
Chesang admitted that marriage in the public eye is difficult. He warned that politics can "break your family" because there is no privacy. He credited his wife for being a very strong partner who understands the demands of his career.
Before his own marriage, Chesang confessed he was a sceptic. He once believed that marriage was not "good," but he now maintains that despite the "trials and tribulations," it is worth it at the end of the day.
The Lavender Union
Chesang’s marriage was a high-profile affair. On 1 November 2025, he celebrated his traditional wedding, known as a koito, to Chanelle Kittony in Kitale. The event was a lavender-themed ceremony attended by the President and several national leaders.
Since the wedding, Chesang says his life has changed for the better. He noted that he has finally found "peace" at home after a long day of political "hustling".

"That is all a man needs. You come from work every day from the hustle, and you just want to go home. That is where my peace is."
