Naomi Kuria, a digital creator, strategist, and commercial model, has shared a detailed account of a violent carjacking incident that she says left her deeply shaken after being held for hours.

Recounting the experience on social media, she described how the situation unfolded abruptly, turning what had started as a normal day into a prolonged and frightening ordeal. According to her, armed attackers confronted her, took control of her vehicle, and forced her into a situation where she had little control over what followed.

“Four months ago, I was carjacked at gunpoint, kidnapped for four hours, robbed, and dumped in the middle of the night by your hustling boyfriends.”

Growing Concerns Over Safety

Incidents like these continue to raise concern about security in Nairobi and other urban centres. Data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics has previously shown that robbery and theft remain among the most reported crimes in urban areas.
Residents often point to night travel, isolated routes, and predictable routines as key risk factors.

A Similar Case: Abel Mutua’s Robbery

Kuria’s experience has drawn comparisons to an earlier incident involving Abel Mutua, who was attacked in Kahawa West in October 2025.
According to multiple reports, Mutua was ambushed by knife-wielding assailants who stole valuables, including his iPhone 16 Pro Max and Bose headphones. The attack occurred near the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital morgue.
Despite the confrontation, he later revealed that he was not physically harmed. “The important thing is that despite the massive knives… they spared my life.”
