Kalakoda Boxing Promotions has entered into a Kenya-focused partnership with betting firm 1xBet, in a move that reflects growing interest in supporting the development of local boxing.

The collaboration will be visible on May 15 during the fourth edition of the “Nightmare in Nairobi” fight night, an event that brings together regional fighters and highlights emerging talent.

The card will be headlined by a regional title bout between George Onyango and Benjamin Mchunguzi, who will contest the East and Central African Super Welterweight Title.

The agreement comes at a time when Kenya continues to produce promising boxing talent, despite ongoing challenges such as limited access to structured competitions and consistent financial backing.

Both parties say the partnership is intended to address some of these gaps by supporting events and creating more opportunities for fighters to compete and grow.

The May 15 fight card reflects that intention, with several bouts featuring both established and rising names. In the co-main event, Martin Achebi returns to the ring following a widely circulated knockout victory, where he will face Uganda’s Abaasi Sseguya.

Elsewhere on the card, Brian Acholo is set to take on Allen Mlati, while prospect Sam Kogeluk, also known as “Mufasa,” will look to build on his recent knockout win when he faces Otieno Owenge.

Organisers say such matchups are part of a broader effort to create consistent platforms for local fighters, helping them gain visibility and potentially access larger international opportunities.
