The Murang’a County Government has invited persons living with disabilities (PWDs) and their caretakers in need of wheelchairs to submit applications ahead of the upcoming county disability event.
In a public notice, the county said applications should be made through an online form available on its official platform, with the deadline set for April 20, 2026.
Applicants have been directed to first undergo an official assessment before completing the online process.
The county emphasised that all applicants must visit a County Social Worker at their respective Sub-County Social Services Office for evaluation.
The assessment report, officials said, is a mandatory requirement and must form part of the application submitted online.
“Please note that all applicants MUST first visit the County Social Worker at their respective Sub-County Social Services Office for an official assessment before submitting the online application,” the notice read.
The county further stated that only those who complete the assessment process and meet the requirements will be considered for the assistive devices.
Successful applicants are expected to receive wheelchairs during the Murang’a County Disability Day, which is scheduled to take place on May 23, 2026.
The event will be held at Maragwa Level 4 Hospital, where the distribution of assistive devices will be conducted as part of the county’s disability support programme.
The initiative is part of Murang’a County’s broader efforts aimed at supporting persons living with disabilities by improving access to mobility aids and essential services.
Residents seeking further information or clarification have been advised to contact the county through the provided telephone number, 0757 562 988.
The county government reiterated that adherence to the outlined application procedure, including the mandatory social worker assessment, is essential for consideration.
The wheelchair distribution and the launch of the autism centre are expected to form part of the activities during the Murang’a County Disability Day.
The programme is being implemented under the county’s development agenda as outlined in its manifesto commitments.
