Floods update as of March 24, 2026

At least 21 counties across Kenya have been affected by ongoing floods as of March 24, 2026, according to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.

The disaster has claimed 88 lives, with three people reported missing, while 34,150 residents have been displaced from their homes.

The impact has been widespread, with major disruptions reported in transport, power and water services.

Several roads and bridges have been rendered impassable, while water supply lines have been damaged and schools affected.

Flooding has also destroyed farms, inundated residential areas and disrupted businesses in markets.

Counties affected include Nairobi, Kisumu, Narok, Kiambu, Migori, Siaya, Makueni, Busia, Wajir, Kisii, Homa Bay, Taita Taveta, Baringo, Kajiado, Kitui, Kwale, Machakos, Kericho, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and West Pokot.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned of continued heavy rainfall, flash floods and storm hazards, urging residents to remain vigilant as conditions are expected to persist during the long rains season.
