The Garissa county assembly’s public investment and accounts committee convened on Tuesday to review the Auditor General’s reports for the financial year ending 30 June 2025, covering a wide range of county institutions and entities.

The session, chaired by vice chairperson Abdikhadir Dubat, centred on scrutinising audit findings and outlining a clear oversight strategy.

Following preliminary deliberations, the committee resolved to summon the relevant accounting officers and management teams to respond to queries highlighted in the Auditor General’s reports.

“We have a constitutional duty to safeguard public resources. Every query raised by the auditor general must be answered fully and satisfactorily,” Dubat said.
