Merishaw School/SCREENGRABMerishaw School has dismissed a video circulating on social media as old, but acknowledged that the incident which was reported in the institution some time back had already been addressed and disciplinary action taken.
The school said the clip does not reflect the current environment at the institution and that disciplinary action was taken against the students involved.
In a statement dated March 16, 2026, the school said it had noted the video claiming incidents at the institution and moved to clarify the matter.
“It has come to our attention that an old video is circulating on social media claiming incidents at our school,” the statement read.
The school said the video is outdated and should not be interpreted as representing present conditions on campus.
“The video is old and does not reflect the current environment at our school,” the school said.
The institution further stated that the students involved in the incident captured in the clip were disciplined and expelled in accordance with its policies.
“The students involved were fully disciplined and expelled in line with our school policies,” it said.
In the footage on social media, a group of boys appears to confront another student before physically assaulting him.
The school, however, did not comment on the specific details of the video but maintained that appropriate action had already been taken.
Merishaw School reiterated that it does not tolerate bullying in any form and said it has put measures in place to safeguard learners.
“Our school does not tolerate bullying in any form. Every student is safe, respected, and protected while on campus,” the statement said.
The management added that it has strengthened systems aimed at ensuring student welfare, including regular staff training, surveillance and a proactive reporting mechanism to address concerns promptly.
“We have robust measures in place to ensure the well-being and security of all students, including regular staff training, surveillance and a proactive reporting system,” it said.
The school expressed pride in its community and thanked parents and guardians for their continued trust.
“We are proud of our school community, our students and our staff. Safety, discipline and excellence remain our top priorities,” the statement added.
The clarification comes amid growing concern on social media over the video, with users sharing and commenting on the clip.
The school urged stakeholders to rely on official communication channels for accurate information regarding matters affecting the institution.
