Radio Jambo has emerged as Nairobi’s leading Kiswahili radio station during the breakfast hours, commanding a 17.47 per cent audience share in September, according to GeoPoll data.

Radio Jambo’s September performance follows earlier GeoPoll surveys that have also placed the station among Nairobi’s leading Kiswahili broadcasters.

In a poll released in June 2026, Radio Jambo maintained its position as Nairobi’s leading Swahili-language radio station, recording 9 million listeners nationally, according to the GeoPoll first-quarter Kenya Radio Audience Survey.

The station recorded 1,244,643 listeners in Nairobi and a 16.53 per cent share during the breakfast slot, according to the survey.

Its reach extended to other parts of the country. Radio Jambo recorded a 16 per cent share in the North Eastern region, a 14.85 per cent share in the North West and a 10.30 per cent share in the Western region, where it reached 1.4 million listeners.

The station also posted an 11.19 per cent share in Upper Eastern and a 7.53 per cent share in the Lake region. In Kisii, it recorded an 8.78 per cent share, emerging as the leading Swahili commercial station ahead of Radio Maisha.

A subsequent GeoPoll survey for July 2026 placed Radio Jambo first among Swahili stations in Nairobi, with an 11.45 per cent audience share. Citizen Radio followed at 11.02 per cent, while Radio Maisha recorded 8.41 per cent and Milele FM 5.11 per cent. Radio 47 posted 0.57 per cent.

Nationally, the July survey put Radio Jambo’s cumulative audience at 16.02 million listeners, making it the country’s second-most listened-to station after Citizen, which recorded 19.68 million listeners.

Radio Jambo is part of Radio Africa Group and is known for its Kiswahili programming, including news, sports, talk shows and audience-driven discussions.
