Residents of Nairobi on Saturday experienced widespread flooding after heavy rains pounded the city, damaging roads and homes in several areas.

The latest flooding occurred barely a week after another intense downpour displaced hundreds of residents in different parts of the capital.

The Ministry of Interior has since identified 37 neighbourhoods in the city as areas highly vulnerable to flooding.

According to the ministry, the locations were identified through a mapping exercise carried out under the Nairobi Rivers Regeneration Programme.

The assessment found that the neighbourhoods lie along key river corridors and other zones considered susceptible to flooding.
