The activity follows damage to electrical infrastructure after recent disruptions in the area. A lorry was seen dumping stones at the roundabout as part of preparations to rehabilitate the road section.

During the operation, one Kenya Power employee attempted to retrieve a power cable that had been swept away earlier. The works are aimed at restoring normal services and improving safety for motorists and pedestrians using the roundabout.

The Kenya National Highways Authority had earlier announced partial closure of sections of roads around the Globe Roundabout to allow repair works on the Nairobi River bridge.

The closures took effect on Thursday, March 12, and will remain in place until Thursday, March 19, 2026.

To ease traffic flow during the repair period, the authority has directed motorists to use alternative routes.

Traffic heading to the Nairobi central business district from Thika will be redirected to use the Globe Overpass, while motorists traveling along University Way from Thika will be diverted to Prof Wangari Maathai Road.

Motorists traveling from Thika Road to Kirinyaga Road and the Old Taxi Park area will use Ring Road.

Traffic from Kipande Road heading to the CBD has been advised to use Limuru Road via the Fig Tree junction before joining Prof Wangari Maathai Road.
