Adam Sandler has been named the highest-paid actor of 2025, according to the latest figures from Forbes.
The 59-year-old comedian brought in a staggering $48 million (Ksh 6.2 billion) after paying fees to his agents and managers.
This figure places him ahead of legendary industry heavyweights such as Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Scarlett Johansson.

The Power of the Streaming Pact
The secret to Sandler’s financial dominance lies in his long-term partnership with Netflix. While other stars rely on the unpredictable nature of the cinema box office, Sandler enjoys the security of a massive streaming contract.
This deal ensures he is paid a high salary regardless of how many people watch his latest project on its release day.
In the last fiscal year, Sandler remained busy both in front of and behind the camera. He produced and starred in the highly anticipated sequel Happy Gilmore 2.
He also appeared alongside George Clooney in the film Jay Kelly, a performance that earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Beating the Heavyweights
Sandler’s total gross earnings for the year reached $60 million, allowing him to leapfrog several action stars and Oscar winners.
Tom Cruise followed in second place, earning $46 million for the latest Mission: Impossible instalment. Mark Wahlberg took third place with $44 million, driven by projects for Amazon and Apple TV.

Scarlett Johansson was the highest-earning woman on the list, taking home $43 million. Interestingly, the list also featured a newcomer.
Millie Bobby Brown, aged just 22, became the youngest actor ever to make the top ten, earning $26 million through her work on Stranger Things and The Electric State.
A Changing Industry
The rise of actors like Sandler and Brown highlights a major shift in how Hollywood operates. Traditional movie stardom is facing new challenges.
Total earnings for the top 20 actors fell to $590 million this year, down 20% from the $730 million recorded in 2024.
Streaming platforms are now seen as the "safest home" for big names. They offer guaranteed fees that protect actors from the risks of declining ticket sales.
While actors like Robert Downey Jr. can still command over $100 million for massive franchise roles, Sandler’s consistent output on Netflix has proven to be the most reliable goldmine in the business today.
