The first stage of Fridays Rally action SS3 Camp Moran 2 has been cancelled due to deteriorating road conditions.
Following heavy downpour in Naivasha on Wednesday night, the roads at Camp Moran were deemed impassable hence the cancellation.
In a statement posted on the WRC (World Rally Championship) online platform, the organisation revealed that action will now begin at 9.11 am at SS4 Loldia.
"SS3 Camp Moran 2 has been cancelled due to deteriorating road conditions. Today’s action will begin with SS4 at 09:11 (local)," the statement read.
Friday’s programme will see drivers plunge deeper into the punishing terrains of Naivasha.
After Loldia, crews will head to SS5 KenGen Geothermal 1 (13.16km) before heading to SS6 Kedong 1 (13.79km) and SS7 Kedong 2.
The action will then swing back to SS8 KenGen Geothermal 2, followed by SS9 Loldia 2, before the day winds up with SS10 Mzabibu 2 (8.86km).
Toyota Gazoo Racing have already laid down an early marker in their quest to defend the Safari Rally crown, locking out the top three positions after the opening day of the championship.
Sweden’s Oliver Solberg heads the leaderboard as the overnight leader after clocking a cumulative time of 30:18.6 across the opening two legs in Camp Moran and Mzabibu.
His teammate Elfyn Evans sits second with a time of 30:51.9, while eight-time world champion Sébastien Ogier occupies third after stopping the clock at 31:23.7, completing a dominant Toyota sweep at the top.
Toyota’s dominance of the Safari Rally has been emphatic since the event returned to the World Rally Championship calendar. Ogier delivered victory in the 2021 edition, before Kalle Rovanpera triumphed in 2022.
Ogier reclaimed the title in 2023, with Rovanpera striking back to lift the crown again in 2024. Last year’s edition saw Evans crowned champion.
