About DJ Tira

DJ Tira, born Mthokozisi Khathi in KwaHlabisa, KwaZulu-Natal, began his career in the mid-1990s. He initially gained recognition as a DJ at local Durban events before forming music groups such as Tzozo and Professor. Over the years, he has become a leading figure in the gqom, kwaito, and Afro house scenes.
He is the founder of Afrotainment Records, a label supporting South African artists, and has been instrumental in launching acts including Big Nuz and Distruction Boyz. DJ Tira has released multiple albums and singles, including 21 Years of DJ Tira, which achieved commercial success.
