Kenyan comedian and activist Eric Omondi says plans for the ‘Tuko Kadi’ concert hit a setback after organisers were blocked from accessing Uhuru Park on the morning of the event setup.
In a statement shared online, Omondi said the team had spent months preparing for the event and had secured the necessary approvals before the unexpected development.
“This morning, we were blocked from accessing Uhuru Park to set up for ‘TUKO KADI CONCERT’ after months of doing all the due diligence and getting approvals. God himself will intervene,” he said.

Event Details and Civic Message
The ‘Tuko Kadi’ concert is part of the wider ‘Niko Kadi’ campaign, a youth-driven civic initiative encouraging voter registration among young Kenyans.
The event had been set for 3rd May at Uhuru Park, with gates opening at 8:00 am and performances expected to run until 6:00 pm. A key feature of the concert is its unique entry requirement. Instead of buying tickets, attendees must present a voter registration card.
“Entry ni Kadi,” Omondi previously said, framing the concert as both entertainment and a civic statement.
