
Detectives are investigating the murder of a man whose decomposed body was found on the roadside in Koru area, Kisumu County.
The decomposed body was found in a thicket off the road by pedestrians on Saturday, police said, adding they were pursuing good leads on the murder.
According to the police, the body had multiple cuts on the head, hand and shoulders.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, including identification.
Police said they were investigating murder and that they had not established the motive for the same.
In Kakuyuni, Machakos County, one John Mbaluka, 72, collapsed and died in his house, witnesses and police said.
Police said the deceased had been to his farm in the area for usual chores and came back home when he collapsed on February 28.
The cause of the death was not immediately known.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Elsewhere in Kakamega’s Bukura village, one Philip Abongo, 32, died after being hit by lightning.
The deceased was sheltering in a house with others as it rained when the lightning struck on the evening of February 28, 2026.

Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident where a trainer drowned at a swimming pool of a hotel in Kabati, Kandara, Muranga County.
Moris Njoroge, 31, was conducting swimming training sessions for his colleagues at the Black Africa Hotel pool on Saturday, February 28, when he drowned, police said.
The circumstances under which the drowning happened are unclear, police and witnesses said.
The deceased was a tutor at Kandara Technical College, his colleagues said.

Police said they want to establish how and why he drowned as claimed. In Isebania, Migori County, a police officer shot and injured himself in the leg in an incident.
The officer was armed with his pistol and was walking into the station when he slid and fell. It was as he tried to support himself when he pulled the trigger of the Steyr pistol.
The bullet hit his left leg, and he was rushed to the hospital in a stable condition.
In the same area, police arrested a suspect and recovered an imitation of a Ceska pistol from him.
Police said they are investigating the recovery and whether the pistol had been used in any form of robbery.
Meanwhile, police are looking for a gang that stabbed a businessman and robbed him of Sh70,000 in Gita area, Kisumu County.
Police said three men on a motorcycle, armed with a rifle, confronted the victim and stabbed him in the back as they struggled to get a bag that contained the cash.
The gang also shot into the air three times as they sped off from the scene in the Saturday incident.
The victim was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.
Police visited the scene and recovered a live bullet and two spent ones of 7.62 mm calibre.
