Contemporary reports confirm that the UAE’s sophisticated air defence systems were activated after a significant barrage of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were launched toward the country in retaliation for escalating regional tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

The strikes prompted an immediate defensive response from UAE authorities, who confirmed the interception of dozens of ballistic missiles and drones.

According to official statements, more than 130 ballistic missiles and over 200 drones were detected, with most neutralised by air defence systems before they could hit major urban centres.

Debris from intercepted missiles and drones fell across parts of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, causing minor material damage and leading to a handful of injuries and at least one reported fatality near an airport area.

Amid this tense atmosphere, Ayan shared a post on Instagram documenting her relief that she was safe and uninjured, acknowledging the surreal experience of hearing defensive operations in her urban neighbourhood:

“Thank God I am safe. Scary night here in Dubai — missiles intercepted near my home. Grateful for the UAE defence forces protecting us and keeping civilians out of harm’s way. Prayers for peace. ??” — @chanelayan (Instagram)

While initial reports described widespread panic at the sound of explosions and interceptions echoing through residential areas, authorities stressed that the interceptor fire was directed at neutralising threats and preventing direct strikes on civilian infrastructure.

Multiple international witnesses reported bright streaks across the night sky, followed by loud booms as defence systems engaged incoming ordnance — a spectacle that left many residents shaken.

Dubai officials also warned the public against sharing unverified videos and footage, urging everyone to rely on official sources for updates.

Authorities cautioned that circulating misleading or outdated footage could contribute to confusion during a time of heightened alert.

For residents like Ayan, the experience was a stark reminder of how quickly regional conflicts can intersect with daily life — even in places considered safe and cosmopolitan.

The UAE’s government has maintained that the situation is under control, and that the air defence measures in place have been highly effective at intercepting threats.

Civil defence teams were deployed swiftly to manage debris and ensure that those affected by falling fragments received medical treatment, where necessary.

In her post, Ayan also used her influence to send a message of hope and calm to her followers:
“To everyone checking in on me — we are okay. It’s been scary, but there is strength in community and prayer. Let’s keep praying for peace and safety for all.” — @chanelayan (Instagram)
As flights were temporarily suspended and schools shifted to remote learning amid the heightened security measures, many residents are taking precautions and keeping abreast of official announcements.
