Rachael Otuoma has opened up about the final moments of her husband, Ezekiel Otuoma. The former AFC Leopards winger passed away on 21 December 2024. He was just 31 years old.
Ezekiel had been fighting a long and difficult battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). His death was later confirmed by Rachael on social media.
Recently, she shared the specific details of his final day during a live TikTok session hosted by Bosskhan.
Signs of Weakness
Rachael recalled that Ezekiel had become very weak shortly before his birthday. She explained that she had stopped sharing regular updates online. This was due to the "trolling" she faced from some social media users.

"It reached a point where I couldn’t even give an update on how he was doing," she said during the live stream. Because of this silence, many people were shocked when they heard the news of his passing.
On the day of his birthday, Ezekiel began asking for water constantly. Rachael mentioned a cultural belief that a person asking for excessive water is not a good sign. Because of this, she initially tried to avoid giving him too much.
"I was told a person asking for a lot of water isn't a good sign. So sometimes I was avoiding giving him water that day."
The Final Celebration
The family had planned to celebrate Ezekiel's birthday quietly at home. However, Ezekiel insisted on going out. He wanted to visit a local spot where they often went for dinner.
Rachael described the atmosphere during that final outing as "funny" and unsettling. She noted that strange things kept happening.

"Everything was breaking. Glass was breaking all of a sudden. It just wasn't right," she remembered.
After they finished eating, Ezekiel told his wife he was tired. He asked to go home and rest before eating again.

A Quiet Departure
Once they were home, Rachael helped Ezekiel to the bathroom and then to his bed. She continued to check on him while the family gathered nearby.
She had a routine of "tapping" him and turning him over to ensure he was comfortable. On her third check, she found him unresponsive. Although his hand was still moving slightly, she could not wake him.
"I went to check on him... I found him like he had just turned. I tried to wake him up, but he wouldn't wake up."
The Rush to the Hospital
Panicked, Rachael called for help from a neighbour and her sister. They rushed Ezekiel to the car to find a doctor. In the chaos and distress, they actually lost their way.
Despite the hospital being close, they ended up driving towards Kitengela. By the time they reached the medical facility, it was an emergency. The doctor examined Ezekiel immediately but confirmed the worst: he had already passed away.
Motor Neurone Disease is a rare condition that affects the brain and nerves. It causes a progressive loss of muscle function. Ezekiel's brave fight against the illness had been followed closely by the Kenyan TikTok community for several years.
