Raised Christian, Chose Islam
During the interview, Burna Boy addressed his relationship with organized religion and spirituality.
“I converted to Islam, I’ve studied it all. I pray, and as soon as I am done, I feel like it’s already done.”
He described prayer as a practice that gives him a sense of completion and connection with a higher power. However, he added that his spiritual exploration remains ongoing.
Burna Boy has previously spoken about questioning religious doctrines. In past interviews, he has expressed skepticism about organized religion, saying that his research into various teachings often leaves him with more questions than answers.
Views on Organized Religion
According to his remarks, he views religion broadly as a structured system that shapes beliefs within societies. At the same time, he has emphasized that his focus is on building a personal understanding of faith rather than adhering strictly to institutional frameworks.
“The more I research, the more confused I become,” he said, reflecting on his attempts to study different religious traditions.
Clips from the interview have circulated widely on social media platforms, prompting discussion among fans. Some online posts show the singer using Arabic phrases associated with Islamic practice, further fuelling conversations about his faith.
