Detectives are investigating the suspected murder of a 32-year-old woman whose body was found in a house in Gatanga, Murang’a county, on Monday.

Police said they are investigating whether the woman was assaulted before her murder.

By Wednesday, no arrests had been made, police said, adding that investigations had been intensified.

The body was found half-naked in Gatura village, with visible injuries on the forehead and bloodstains on her jumper.

Police said human faeces were scattered at the scene, and a pair of female underwear was found some distance away.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem and further investigations.

In Kiandutu, Kiambu county, a security guard was stabbed to death by an intruder at a construction site.

Witnesses said the intruder arrived at the site and demanded access to collect what he termed waste material.

An altercation ensued after the guards denied him entry. A survivor said the suspect drew a knife and stabbed them, killing Stephen Mbiyu.

His colleague was seriously injured and rushed to hospital, police said.

The assailant escaped soon after the incident, which occurred on Monday. The body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem.

In Luanda, Vihiga county, detectives are investigating the stabbing of a 60-year-old man following an argument over the cutting of a tree.

The body of Jackton Khakili was found in his compound with cuts in the head and neck. Police visited the scene and recovered the murder weapon, a panga, which had been hidden under a mattress.

Police said the suspect was arrested pending interrogation and other procedures, while the body was moved to the mortuary.

It was established that the assailant, who is the deceased’s son, had argued with him over plans to cut trees in the area. The dispute escalated into a fight that left the man dead.

In Kalawani, Mbooni, Makueni county, a suspect was stoned to death and his body set ablaze in a mob incident.

Police said they are investigating the matter and have discouraged mob lynching, urging members of the public to surrender suspects to authorities for due process.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man was seriously injured on Monday after a gold mining tunnel he was digging collapsed and trapped him in Lamula, Yala, Siaya county.

The victim was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries. The incident is the latest in a series of similar cases in the area amid ongoing operations to promote safe mining.

Officials say they are overwhelmed by the trend, citing resistance from some locals who continue to venture into the sites for a living.
