
Detectives are investigating an incident where a woman aged 84 was found murdered in her house in a village in Luanda, Vihiga county.
The motive of the murder of Fanice Okwisa was not established, police said on February 23, after the discovery of the body.
According to the Western police commander Issa Mohamud, the body was found in a pool of blood in a table room of her house.
The body had a deep cut on the neck, left jaw and forehead when it was found lying on the floor.
Police visited the scene and moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

Police said the deceased had gone to a local centre to fetch water but failed to return home.

In Lungalunga, Kwale county an elderly man was killed in his house in what is suspected to be ongoing killings targeting the old over land issues.
The body of Ndoro Mwaba Said, 72, was found in bed and in a pool of blood with deep cuts in his head and neck.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations, police said.
Such cases have been on the rise in the area amid efforts to address the trend. Police say their investigations show the gangs behind the attacks are targeting land in the area.
Police are struggling to solve the cases so far reported. The cases happen in Kilifi and Kwale Counties, investigations show.
In Shamberere, Kakamega county, a man identified as Peter Umba, 59, was found dead with deep cuts on the head and both hands.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations as his wife and son were detained as persons of interest in the murder, police said.

In a different incident, a suspect was attacked and killed by a mob in a failed robbery in Sunton area, Kasarani, Nairobi.
He was said to have been on a motorcycle as a pillion passenger and had attempted to rob a pedestrian when an alarm was raised, police said.
A mob responded and stoned him to death as the accomplice escaped on foot.
Such cases have been on the rise both in rural and urban areas amid a campaign to stop the trend. Police say up to four suspects are lynched daily in the worrying trend.
