American YouTuber MrBeast, whose real name is James Stephen Donaldson, has funded the construction of seven new classrooms and supplied new desks to Nyakichiwa Primary School in Bomet County, Kenya, following an assessment of the school’s infrastructure.
The project was undertaken after MrBeast and his team visited the school and documented the condition of the learning facilities. Pupils were studying in structures described as dilapidated, with limited classroom space and insufficient furniture.

Seven New Classrooms Constructed
The intervention included:
- Construction of seven new classrooms
- Delivery of a truckload of desks and chairs
- Replacement or reinforcement of older classroom structures
The additional classrooms are expected to ease congestion at the school, which serves a growing pupil population in Bomet County. According to school representatives, the new buildings provide improved roofing, walls, and flooring compared to the previous structures.
“The new classrooms and desks will significantly reduce overcrowding and improve the learning environment,” a member of the school administration said.
Addressing Infrastructure Gaps
Nyakichiwa Primary School is among many rural public schools in Kenya facing infrastructure shortages. Data from Kenya’s Ministry of Education has previously indicated disparities in classroom-to-pupil ratios, particularly in rural counties where enrolment growth has outpaced facility expansion.
Before the upgrade, teachers reported challenges managing large class sizes within limited space. The shortage of desks and chairs was cited as affecting pupil comfort and classroom organization.

Part of Broader Philanthropic Projects
MrBeast is known globally for philanthropy linked to his YouTube platform, which has hundreds of millions of subscribers. His projects often use advertising revenue and brand partnerships to fund community initiatives.
In Africa, his documented initiatives have included drilling boreholes, constructing housing, installing community kitchens, and supporting school feeding programmes in countries such as Kenya and Ghana.
These projects are typically featured in high-traffic YouTube videos that outline the planning and implementation process.
The new facilities at Nyakichiwa Primary School are expected to serve both current and future pupils, providing expanded classroom space and adequate furniture to support daily learning activities.
