Police have arrested two students at the Mama Ngina University in Gatundu, Kiambu county after one of them posted a picture and video of a pistol and a loaded magazine on his WhatsApp status.

Police said a search was conducted and the background of the house matched the pictures in the WhatsApp status.

Upon further interrogation the suspect led the officers to one of the shops in Gatundu town where a toy pistol incapable of firing in a book brief case as earlier reported was recovered.

The student said he did that for fun. He is still under probe, police said.

In Nakuru county, a notorious robbery with violence suspect was arrested in connection with an attack and robbery on litigant and parliamentary hopeful Magare Gikenyi.

Gikenyi was at the weekend on February 14 attacked in London area and robbed of his mobile phone and unknown amount of money.

The suspects escaped on awaiting motorcycle as Gikenyi made a report to the police.

On February 17, the suspect was trailed to Gioto where he was arrested prompting other accomplices to start rioting in attempt to have him freed.

Police had to fire in the air to scare the gang of about 30 that had confronted them in efforts to free the wanted suspect identified as Alex Macharia alias Ndogo.

He was taken to custody pending investigations into the attack and possible arraignment.

Gikenyi wants to be an MP for Nakuru Town West. He is one of the leading litigants on constitutional matters, which have shot him to the public limelight.

In Kendu Bay, Homa Bay county detectives are investigating the suspected murder of a man whose body was found inside his house.

The body of James Mboya, 60, was found lying in a pool of blood after his murder on February 16.

Police said the house had blood stains in the sitting room and he had a deep cut in the forehead.

Family members said he lived alone and did not know who was behind the murder and its motive.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem and other procedures.

And three police officers were attacked and wounded in an operation on illicit brew at a village in Mogotio, Baringo county.

The officers had gone to the Chemogoch village for the operation when a mob turned on them with stones and clubs.

Police said a boda boda rider who tried to rescue the team was also hit and injured in the drama.

They were all treated and discharged amid investigations. Police said two suspects were arrested in the incident.

In Mlolongo, a police woman was injured by a falling stone at a construction site.

The officer was in the company of others on patrol when a stone fell from an upper floor and hit her in the head.

She was rushed to the hospital where she was treated and discharged amid investigations.
