“It’s been like a year since I was here, and I was looking forward to the weather because where I’m from right now is cold. I’m excited to be in Kenya to connect with my fans and share with them what I do as I look out for possible collaborations with my fellow Kenyan acts who are doing amazing things in the industry,” he said.

Bridging the Diaspora Sound with Home

Joash’s return is strategically timed as he seeks to strengthen the bridge between the diaspora sound and Kenya’s thriving music culture. His Dark R&B style — layered with emotional depth, atmospheric production, and hip-hop influences — reflects his multicultural upbringing between Kisumu, Italy, and the UK.

With the Kenyan industry experiencing a surge in global recognition, Joash is keen on collaborating with local artists and meeting key industry players during his stay. For him, this tour is about building authentic connections and contributing to the evolution of Kenyan sound on a global stage.

Choosing Sides: Toxic Lyrical vs Buruklyn Boyz

During one of his interviews, Joash was asked to weigh in on the ongoing lyrical clash between Toxic Lyrical and Buruklyn Boyz — a rivalry that has sparked conversations across the Kenyan hip-hop scene.

Without hesitation, Joash gave his honest take.

“I have listened to the back and forth and I like Toxic’s delivery on the music and I think it’s good because Hip-Hop is a competitive sport so it’s good for the culture when there is a clash and people can really showcase their ability. I think there is healthy competition and Hip-Hop is a sport,” he said.

By picking Toxic Lyrical, Joash emphasized his appreciation for lyrical delivery and competitive artistry, while also highlighting that such clashes can be beneficial for the culture when kept healthy and skill-driven.
