It is not clear what prompted the argument, which turned physical and tragic. Police said he was hit with a blunt object and died by the roadside.

Police said they had been informed that the two had family differences which led to the fatal attack.

The suspect is on the run, and efforts to arrest him for questioning are ongoing, police said, as the body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy.

This is the latest murder incident to be reported amid a surge in such crimes. Most of them are linked to family disputes and love triangles, police said, as investigations continue.

In Tulia, Kitui County, Alex Ngumbi Kamile, 24, was found lying dead about 300 metres from his homestead with a white ligature tied around his neck.

It was established that the deceased, who was lying on his stomach in a bush near a riverbank, had a white ligature tightly tied around his neck, with blood oozing from his mouth.

He was not wearing a shirt, and beside him were a black jacket and sandals, while two red T-shirts were found hanging on a tree. It was further established that the deceased, who had travelled from Nairobi, where he resided, arrived home on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations. Elsewhere, three people drowned in separate incidents, police said.

The first incident was reported in Mananja, Machakos County, where the lifeless body of Joseph Gashaba, 30, was found in River Tana.

In Gachoka, Mbeere, Embu County, a decomposed body of a man was found in River Kapingazi. The man is believed to have drowned or been killed and his body dumped at the scene. The body was moved to the mortuary.

In Lungalunga, Nairobi, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl who had been reported missing was found drowned at a construction site.

The child’s body was found in a septic tank long after she had drowned. The circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately clear, police said, as the body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations.
