
Police are investigating an incident where a man was murdered and his body dumped in a river in Tharaka Nithi county.
The body was found floating on River Thanantu in Mukothima on February 16. Blood stains were also discovered on stones at the bank of the river.
It was established that the skull was raptured by what is believed to be a heavy blow using a blunt object.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an identification and postmortem.
This is one of the eight murder incidents reported to police on Monday alone.
In Kisumu town, a night guard was found murdered after an attack.
Police said James Ombusuro, 60, was hacked to death as he headed to his home after the night’s duties.
His body was found along Lodwar Road. Police said a second man was found injured a few metres from the scene.
The motive of the attack was not immediately known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary.
In Kondoo area in Uasin Gishu county, a body of a man was found in a forest long after his suspected murder.
It is not clear how the victim died, police said on Monday.
The body was found by a group of women who were fetching firewood.
Police were alerted and moved the body to the mortuary pending postmortem and other procedures.
Along the Webuye-Eldoret highway in Kipkaren, Uasin Gishu county, the body of a man was found with bruises on the legs, hands, face and abdomen.
The man seemed to have been murdered elsewhere and the body was dumped at the scene.
The motive was not known and the body was moved to the mortuary for other procedures, police said of the February 16 incident.
In Baricho, Kirinyaga county, a suspect was arrested over the murder of a woman in the area.
The woman identified as Jane Wambui, 46, was found murdered in the area on Monday and the motive is yet to be established, police said.
And in Kopsiro, Bungoma county, a 13-year-old girl who was a pupil at Kiptungururwo Primary School died after being punished by her father.
The father was arrested for grilling following the incident on February 14, police said.
The father told police he was disciplining his daughter after she missed school for a number of occasions over unknown reasons when she was fatally injured.
The girl sustained head injuries and was rushed to the hospital hours later where she succumbed.
The
police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem.
