A man surrendered to police, confessing he had murdered his wife at their matrimonial home in Bungoma County, police said.

The man walked to the Busia police station, more than 100 kilometres away from the primary scene and told police he had killed his wife, Metrine Wandera, 25, over claims he found her in a love triangle incident with another man on their matrimonial bed on February 11, 2026.

The man in the saga managed to escape the scene.

The assailant told police he bludgeoned his wife before escaping in fear of being attacked by a mob.

Police in Busia detained him pending interrogation and other procedures.

He was later moved to Bungoma pending arraignment, Western regional police commander Issa Mohamud said.

An autopsy was planned on the body of the woman as part of the probe into the incident, police said.

In a different incident,  police identified the body of a man whose body had been found abandoned on the roadside in Mabariri, Nyamira county.

He was identified as Anthony Gai, 37, who was a boda boda rider in the area.

The motive of the murder which happened on February 11, 2026, was not immediately known.

The body was preserved at a local mortuary pending an autopsy.

Meanwhile, police in Gakawa, Nyeri County, found that a boda boda rider had been murdered and his body abandoned on the roadside. Police said his motorcycle was missing when the body was discovered on February 12.

The police suspect he resisted the robbery of his motorcycle, which prompted the assailants to kill him.

The body had two stab wounds in the chest and was identified as Erick Muchoki Muriuki.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Such incidents of fatal attacks on riders have been on the rise amid calls on the victims to cooperate with the attackers for their own safety.

 Police investigations show that most of the stolen motorcycles are refurbished and sold elsewhere to unsuspecting buyers. A team of detectives is investigating the trend, police headquarters said.

Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident where a 27-year-old man was found murdered outside his residential house in Maraba estate, Kakamega Town.

The body of Benjamin Obangi was found in a scrap metal yard where he also lived long after he had been murdered on February 12, police said.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established. The body had injuries in the head when it was discovered and later moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
