Rescuers said one of them had serious injuries. The construction was being carried out at night when the structure collapsed.

Part of the foundation of a building under construction along Kirinyaga Road, Nairobi, that collapsed on February 11, 2026/EZEKIEL AMING'ACentral Police commander Stephene Nyakombo said there were 18 workers at the site when it collapsed.
“We have so far rescued and accounted for all of the workers. Out of the 18, six were injured, while others were rescued with no injuries,” said Nyakombo.

“We will seek answers from among the county officials,” he said.
The scene was cordoned off as the rescue teams worked on the same.
According to the Nairobi County at approximately 5.00am the building under construction collapsed at foundation level along Kirinyaga Road, near OTC in Nairobi County.
Nairobi County’s Fire and Emergency response units were immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct search and rescue operations.

The 6 injured were successfully rescued from the rubble and promptly handed over to St. John’s Ambulance personnel, who immediately transported them to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialised medical treatment.
Following the initial rescue, a secondary, thorough search was conducted by Nairobi County's Fire and Emergency Response Team on-site to ensure no individuals remained trapped.
All 18 workers present at the site during the incident have been accounted for, and the site has been officially handed over to the OCPD Central for cordoning and to initiate a formal investigation into the cause of the collapse.
The collapse comes less than a month after a building under construction collapsed and killed two people in South C, Nairobi.
The issue is still under probe.
