MP Responds to Viral Tattoo
Reacting to the online attention, Owino acknowledged the man publicly and expressed interest in meeting him. In a message shared on his official social media accounts, the MP described the tattoo as a demonstration of loyalty.
“I am looking for this loyal Kenyan. Loyalty must be rewarded in instalments,” Owino said.
He did not clarify what the reward would entail or indicate when he hoped to meet the individual. Owino also appealed to members of the public with information about the man’s identity to help connect them.
Background on Babu Owino
Babu Owino, whose official name is Paul Ongili Owino, has served as the Member of Parliament for Embakasi East since 2017. He was re-elected during the 2022 General Election on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket, according to records from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Public Reaction and Ongoing Questions
The tattoo incident has triggered mixed reactions online. While some users described the act as an extreme but genuine show of political support, others questioned the decision to permanently mark one’s body with the image of a public figure.
As of publication:
- The identity of the man has not been officially confirmed.
- No statement has been issued by health authorities or law enforcement.
- It is unclear whether the individual has contacted the MP directly.
The episode has renewed online discussions about political loyalty, recognition, and the ways supporters express affiliation with leaders in Kenya, especially within youth and grassroots movements. Further details are expected should the individual come forward or be identified.
