Kenyan socialite and entrepreneur Vera Sidika has issued a firm warning to people she describes as “old friends” and clout-chasers who continue to share outdated photos of her to associate themselves with her current public profile.
In a social media post shared this week, Sidika told such individuals to “stop living in the past”, saying she is updating her personal and professional standards for 2026 and no longer wants to be linked to connections anchored in her former image or achievements.
“Stop living in the past. I’m upgrading my standards for 2026,” Sidika wrote.

Calling out recycled connections

Sidika criticised those reposting what she termed “ancient photos”, arguing that the images are being used to suggest close relationships that no longer exist.
She said the practice misrepresents her current life and brand, adding that she wants any associations with her name to reflect present-day reality rather than shared history.
“Posting old photos to imply closeness is misleading,” she noted in the message.

From music video fame to reality TV

Sidika rose to national prominence in 2012 after appearing in P-Unit’s hit music video You Guy. She later became a regular feature on Kenyan reality television, including:
  • Nairobi Diaries
  • The Real Housewives of Nairobi
Over the years, she has built a public profile spanning modelling, entrepreneurship, and social media influencing, becoming one of Kenya’s most recognisable online personalities.

A highly visible online presence

The warning comes amid Sidika’s consistently active and closely watched social media presence. Her posts — often showcasing luxury purchases, travel, and personal milestones — regularly attract strong engagement across platforms such as Instagram and X.
One recent viral moment involved photos of Sidika flaunting stacks of cash, which were widely reshared by local entertainment pages and sparked debate online.

Not her first public caution

Sidika’s latest remarks differ from previous online controversies she has addressed. In 2025, she publicly warned followers after her WhatsApp account was hacked, alerting them to fraudulent messages sent in her name.

In earlier years, her dramatic body transformation photos and lifestyle content also drew mixed reactions, with some netizens accusing her of clout-chasing — claims she has previously dismissed.
