Kenyan singer-songwriter Nadia Mukami, one of East Africa’s most popular Afro-pop artists, has taken to social media with a heartfelt and public appeal after losing an original Gucci cap worth a substantial amount of money while in Upper Hill, Nairobi.

A Personal Plea from Nadia Mukami
In a video shared on Instagram (also reposted and widely circulated on TikTok and YouTube), Nadia directly appealed to anyone who might have seen or picked up the cap to return it.
In her own words, she said:
“It's original Gucci, it's very expensive na niliwacha tu hapo... In a few minutes, kutoka tu kutumana mtu eti haiko. If you know you've seen that cap or you've taken it naomba tu unirudishie.”
This mix of Swahili and English — a style familiar to many of her followers — expressed both her frustration and hope.
In English, Nadia conveyed the confusion and disappointment after realising the cap was gone just moments after leaving the area.
Despite the disbelief, she maintained a direct appeal for honesty, emphasising that just returning the cap would be enough.

Fan Support and Online Conversations
Since the appeal surfaced, many of Nadia’s fans and followers have rallied behind the singer.
Comments on the posts range from light-hearted jokes and memes to earnest encouragement and shares of the video to broaden its reach.
Social-media users across platforms like TikTok, Instagram and Facebook have been reposting the appeal, hoping it will reach someone who might have the cap or saw where it was last left.
Some comments point to Upper Hill’s busy restaurants and cafes, reminding others that stray personal items can easily be picked up by passersby or staff members who may not realise the urgency of returning them.
