According to Lydia, the reconciliation came after her ex-partner issued repeated apologies and agreed to a Sh 1 million financial settlement, which she described as a turning point in rebuilding trust.
She explained that while apologies are important, they are not always enough to heal past wounds.
People think saying sorry is enough, but sometimes accountability must be practical,” Lydia said during the interview.

Lydia told Massawe that the money was not a bribe or payment for love, but a form of compensation and responsibility for the emotional and financial strain she endured during their separation.
She noted that the agreement helped her feel respected and valued, something she says was missing in the relationship before it fell apart.
The Radio Jambo interview sparked online debate, with many listeners questioning whether money should influence reconciliation in relationships. Some praised Lydia for standing her ground, while others questioned whether financial settlements should be tied to emotional decisions.
Addressing the criticism, Lydia maintained that every relationship is different and decisions should be made based on personal experiences, not public opinion.

“What worked for me might not work for someone else. I know what I went through, and I know what I needed to move forward,” she added.
Massawe Japanni acknowledged the honesty of the conversation, noting that many couples struggle to discuss accountability after breakups, especially when finances are involved.
Lydia also emphasised that the reconciliation came with clear boundaries and expectations, saying she would not hesitate to walk away again if respect and transparency were compromised.
