
A 15-year-old boy has died after being trapped by a heap of sand he was harvesting in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay county.
Police said the boy was a student
at Kamser Junior Secondary School.
He
was in the company of a group and was excavating sand when it caved in, killing
him instantly.
The
body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem.
In Kitise, Makueni county, a
nine-month-old toddler drowned in a bucket full of water while being washed by
his nine-year-old brother.
The
toddler was found unresponsive in the bucket and moved to the mortuary for
postmortem, police said.
The
mother of the baby told police she had left the child under the care of the
siblings when the incident happened on Saturday.
Police
in Mbiri, Kirinyaga county are investigating the death of a man in his house.
The body of Elias Kariuki, 46, was decomposing when it was discovered
on Saturday January 24.
In
Homa Bay town, a woman aged 28 was fatally stabbed in a suspected love triangle
saga.
Police said Mevis Ondijo was allegedly killed by her boyfriend in
a house belonging to her tenant in Shauri Yako.
The boyfriend pursued her there after learning she was in the
house with a tenant and stabbed her in the chest and stomach.
He
escaped the scene as the woman was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed
to the injuries.
Police
said they recovered a blood-stained knife from the scene with clothes,
bedsheets and a mosquito net.
The said assailant and the man whose house the incident happened
escaped the scene before the arrival of the police.
The
body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem, police said of the Saturday
evening incident.
Police
on January 24 helped exhume a body that had been buried in Gesabakwa, Manga,
Nyamira county, following a mistaken identity.
Investigations had established that the buried body was of
Tanzanian national Jeremiah Temba, 43, and not 53-year-old Daniel Onyoni’s.
Onyoni’s was later moved from Nairobi for burial while that of
Temba was moved to Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary for other procedures.
