
Detectives are investigating murder in an incident where the body of a man was found rotten in a farm borehole in Muguga area, Kiambu county.
The incident happened in Kamuguga village on Saturday.
The body was spotted by workers at the farm as they drew water from the borehole.
It had decomposed, and police said it had a binding wire around its neck and a cracked skull.
Indications were that the man was killed elsewhere and the body dumped in the borehole.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said adding they wanted to establish the motive of the murder.
Elsewhere in Kiamabara, Nyeri County, one Nathaniel Kinuthia, 27 drowned in a River Sagana while on a swimming expedition on January 24, 2026.
The body was yet to be removed on Saturday. His clothes were found at the banks of the river long after the incident, police said.
The search on the body continued on Sunday.
In a different incident, a 64-year-old man was hacked to death in his house in a village in Etago, Kisii county.
The assailants did not steal anything from the house where Samuel Nyakona was killed.
His body was found on Friday, January 23, in a pool of blood with food he was eating on the table.
He had deep cuts in the head, back, ribs and shoulder, police said.
The motive of the murder was not immediately established.
His wife told police she had served food to the deceased and left for her nearby shop, and on returning, she found the intruders in the compound.
She said she was slapped by the gang using a panga when she questioned their mission and who they were, prompting her to raise an alarm.
Police said the gang escaped the scene. It was then that the wife stumbled on the body of her husband in the sitting room.
Police were called to the scene and announced they had launched an investigation into the murder incident.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures, police said on Sunday.
Such murder incidents have been on the rise in the area, with most of them being linked to land disputes and love triangles.
Police say the cases are being solved, and they are in different stages of investigation and prosecution. Other suspects have been jailed in the cases.
