Nairobi County official Geoffrey Mosiriahas responded to recent criticism from content creator Andrew Kibe over Mosiria’s handling of a controversial case involving a viral video and the subsequent public debate.
Kibe had sharply criticised Mosiria online. He accused Mosiria of making up facts around the incident involving Kenyan national James Opande and Marion Naipei.
Kibe claimed Mosiria exaggerated details and portrayed the situation inaccurately. He said Mosiria was unfairly targeting Opande and should be removed from his government role.
''Mosiria is a danger to society and Governor Johnson Sakaja should sack him,"' these were the exact words from Andrew kibe to Mosiria from his viral video circulating social media platforms.

In response, Mosiria took to his social media platforms to defend his actions and clarify his position.
He said ''My involvement was not about scoring points or seeking popularity. Instead, I acted because I believed the situation needed careful public scrutiny and legal attention.''
''My role as a public servant includes speaking up on matters that affect people’s rights and dignity'' he added.
He stressed that no one should be above the law, and that includes well‑known individuals who appear in viral clips or online discussions.

He acknowledged that social media reactions can be strong and emotional. But Mosiria said he would continue to rely on facts and official reports when addressing sensitive matters.
He asked Kenyans to focus on evidence and due process rather than rumours and speculation.
What Sparked the Exchange
The disagreement began after Mosiria publicly commented on the widely shared video involving Opande and Naipei. Mosiria had taken the unusual step of reporting the matter to relevant authorities.

He expressed concern about consent, privacy, and how the incident was shared online. Mosiria also defended his stance when the matter became a topic of heated discussion on X and other platforms.
Kibe’s criticism was partly rooted in his view that Mosiria was overstepping his role.Kibe said Mosiria was presenting one side of a complex situation and casting public judgment before all facts were clear.
The content creator insisted Naipei was a willing participant, challenging claims about what had happened in the clip.
Mosiria’s Broader Public Role
The exchange with Kibe comes at a time when Mosiria has been a visible figure in Nairobi’s local leadership.
He frequently comments on public issues and shares updates about community safety, environmental enforcement and civic behaviour.
Mosiria’s public approach has won praise from some who see him as an active official willing to address controversial matters.
Others have criticised him for being too outspoken or drawing attention to issues in ways that fuel debate rather than calm it.
In recent months, Mosiria has addressed other viral situations.
He has clarified misinformation, such as fake demolition photos of a church near Nairobi Railway Station, and urged citizens to look at verified evidence before drawing conclusions.
