Digital Creator Terence Creative said the physical toll of the tree-hugging challenge has become alarming. He cited cases where participants have suffered serious health issues while attempting to break the record.

In a recent public address, Terence Creative argued that the tree-hugging trend has become repetitive and poses serious health risks to participants.

He called on Kenyans to diversify their record-breaking efforts and focus on shorter, safer challenges. "Watu wajanja tusonge kwa next challenge." He stated.

He highlighted a specific incident involving a 63-year-old man who fainted during the challenge. Terence Creative also noted reports of kidney failure among participants, describing the risks as a major reason the trend should end.

“These endurance tasks are not only repetitive but also dangerous. We need to shift our focus to safer records,” he stated.

Trend Saturation Prompts Call for New Records

According to Terence Creative, the tree-hugging record was first set by a man named Tufena. Since then, he said many Kenyans have attempted and completed the challenge, causing the record to become oversaturated.

He urged citizens to avoid repeating the same feat, arguing that continued attempts only lead to unnecessary risk and do not add value to Kenya’s record-breaking history.

“The record has been broken and re-broken by many. It’s time to look elsewhere,” he said.

Proposal of 50 Under-24-Hour World Records

To encourage change, Terence Creative requested that “research people” identify 15 Guinness World Record challenges that can be completed within 24 hours. He later expanded the list himself, presenting 50 alternative challenges.

He said all the suggested records are achievable within a single day, making them more accessible and safer for participants.

One of the tasks he mentioned is peeling potatoes, locally referred to as “kuchonga waru.” He explained that such challenges already exist in the Guinness Book of Records and are available for Kenyans to attempt.

“These records are waiting to be broken. They are manageable and can be completed within a day,” he said.

A Strategic Call for Diversified Record-Breaking

Terence Creative urged Kenyans to be strategic in choosing new challenges so that efforts are spread across different categories rather than concentrated on one activity.

He expressed confidence in the country’s ability to break the new records, saying that Kenyans have the talent and determination to succeed.

“I know Kenyans can do this. Let’s be clever and move on,” he said.

He concluded by urging the public to halt tree-hugging marathons and instead explore the new list of 50 challenges.
