A Nairobi bodaboda rider has gone viral after narrating how he made an unexpected KSh 10,000 in a single day by ferrying fans of popular American YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed during his recent visit to Kenya.

Speaking in a now widely shared video circulating on social media, the rider explained that the surge in demand began shortly after news broke that IShowSpeed was touring parts of Nairobi and interacting with fans.

Thousands of young people reportedly rushed to various locations, hoping to catch a glimpse of the internet sensation, creating a sudden surge in transportation — especially for bodaboda operators.

According to the rider, he started his day as usual, unaware that it would turn into one of his most profitable days since joining the bodaboda business.

“Nilitoka asubuhi kama kawaida, lakini nikapata watu wengi sana wananiuliza niwapeleke mahali IShowSpeed yuko,” he said.

Many fans, mostly youths, were eager to move quickly between locations where the YouTuber was rumored to appear, preferring motorcycles over cars due to traffic congestion.

The rider revealed that most trips were short but frequent, with fans willing to pay slightly higher fares to avoid missing out on the experience.

“Wengine walikuwa wananiambia niongeze bei kidogo mradi wafike haraka,” he added.

By midday, he had already made more than what he usually earns in an entire day.

As excitement continued to build online, information about IShowSpeed’s movements spread rapidly through TikTok, Instagram, and WhatsApp groups.

This kept fans on the move, hopping from one spot to another. For bodaboda riders stationed nearby, it became a rare opportunity to cash in on the hype.

By the end of the day, the rider says he had pocketed approximately KSh 10,000 — a figure that surprised even him.

“Kawaida siku nzuri naweza pata kama elfu mbili au tatu, lakini hii siku ilikuwa tofauti kabisa,” he explained, describing the experience as both exhausting and rewarding.
