Kenya has recorded steady growth in cryptocurrency adoption over the past eight years, reflecting rising interest in digital assets.

The number of users increased from about 10,400 in 2017 to 30,040 in 2018 and 44,580 in 2019.

Growth accelerated from 2020, when users rose to 86,690, before jumping to 253,200 in 2021.

Adoption continued to expand in 2022 with 364,800 users and reached 493,500 in 2023.

The trend persisted in 2024 with 729,200 users.

In 2025, the number of cryptocurrency users in Kenya is projected to reach about 733,300, according to Statista.
