According to Gallup's 2025 Global Safety Report, Zimbabwe and Eswatini are among the world's least safe countries, with 40% of residents feeling safe walking alone at night.

They rank slightly above Myanmar (41%).

The report, surveying over 144,000 people in 144 countries, lists Liberia (37%), Ecuador (38%), and Chile (39%) as similarly unsafe.

Southern African nations dominate the lower rankings, including Lesotho and Botswana (both 34%) and South Africa (33%), which places last.

The data is based solely on public perception of nighttime safety.
