In the 2025 Economic Survey by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) — data often referenced in the Kenya Economic Report 2025 context — annual real average wage earnings in Kenya fell slightly in 2024.

While nominal average annual earnings per employee rose from Sh894,200 in 2023 to  Sh933,100 in 2024, real average earnings — adjusted for inflation — declined from Sh667,300 to Sh 665,400.

This drop reflects a 0.3 % erosion in purchasing power, marking continued pressure on workers’ real wages despite higher nominal pay as inflation remained a constraint on actual income gains.
