Popular Kenyan content creator and comedian Dem wa Facebook has shared an emotional tribute following the death of her former football coach, Justin Okiring.
The tribute revealed the extent of Coach Okiring's influence on her life and education, before her later transition into comedy and content creation.
Coach Okiring, a former Harambee Starlets, Wiyeta Girls, and Trans Nzoia Falcons coach, passed away after reportedly succumbing to injuries sustained during an attack in West Pokot by suspected bandits.

A Coach Who Believed
Dem wa Facebook, posted that she was deeply heartbroken by the coach's passing. She described him as more than a coach.
“I am who I am today because he chose to believe in me.
It is painful knowing that a man who gave so much to young girls and to Kenyan football is gone.”
Her story began with football. She met Coach Okiring when she joined Brenda Girls in Form One. The coach saw her potential and ensured she stayed in school because of her football talent.

“I met him when I joined Brenda Girls in Form One, and after seeing my potential, he made sure I stayed in school because of football. He moved me from Brenda Girls to Nasokol Girls, where I continued my studies for free while pursuing the game I loved,” she posted.
After high school, Coach Okiring took her to Trans Nzoia Falcons, marking the start of her professional football journey. She credited her success entirely to him.

Dem wa Facebook's Football Career
Her talent on the pitch was evident. Before becoming a content creator, she played as a defender for Trans Nzoia Falcons, a team competing in the top-tier Women's Premier League.
She made the difficult decision to leave football for content creation. Although not explicitly detailed in the tribute, this transition marked a major pivot in her public career.
