Veteran Kenyan media personality Joyce Gituro revealed that younger men from Generation Z regularly flood her social media inbox with romantic messages.

The 54-year-old broadcaster disclosed the details during a candid appearance on the Lessons at 30 podcast, hosted by comedian Dr Ofweneke.

She described the unexpected attention from younger admirers as both surprising and amusing.

Unfiltered Advances in the Inbox

During the interview, host Dr Ofweneke asked Gituro when a suitor had last called her "babe.”

Gituro explained that such messages constantly land in her direct messages, even though they come from people she has never met.

She noted that a large number of these senders belong to Generation Z and display remarkable boldness.

"I don't even know them. Most of them are Gen Zs. And they are so bold," Gituro stated.

When she addresses their informal approach, the senders remain completely unbothered.

"You tell them they are mannerless, and they say, ' Don't look at the manners," she added.

Praise for Generation Z's Determination

Despite her surprise at their lack of traditional boundaries, Gituro expressed genuine admiration for Generation Z's mindset.

Reflecting on her own career trajectory, she contrasted her past struggles with fear against the drive seen in youth today.

"They don't fear, and they don't care. They go for what they believe in. They go for what they want," Gituro remarked.

She observed that self-doubt often prevents individuals from achieving their potential, whereas younger adults pursue their goals without hesitation.

Life, Motherhood, and Romance

Gituro also reflected on her personal journey as a single mother. She separated from her former husband 18 years ago, in 2008.

She successfully raised her three children — now aged 32, 24, and 22 — and put them through university independently.

Addressing her current romantic outlook, Gituro clarified that she remains open to companionship rather than traditional marriage.

"I want to surrender to God's will," she explained regarding potential future relationships.

Media Background and Industry Journey

Gituro's broadcasting career spans over two decades. She started out as an actress on set books, earning 7,000 KES per month, before former Murang'a Women Representative Sabina Chege spotted her radio potential.

She later served 17 years as a manager at Royal Media Services before moving to MediaMax Network.

In addition, Gituro grew up in a large polygamous family of 33 children, where she was the 23rd child. She has previously spoken about undergoing therapy to heal from childhood trauma.
