Media personality Oga Obinna has made startling allegations claiming that unnamed individuals were plotting to harm him following his high-profile interview with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking during the Obinna Show Live, where he hosted comedian Vindee, Obinna narrated a sequence of warnings he allegedly received from credible insiders and prominent figures in the media industry.
“There were people who wanted to do me bad” — Obinna
Obinna said the threats emerged immediately after his interview with the Gachagua went public. According to him, a reliable source revealed that certain individuals were planning to target him because of the interview.
“After interviewing Riggy G, there are some people who wanted to do me bad,” Obinna recounted during the show.

He further claimed that he was informed that President William Ruto personally intervened and instructed the group to leave him alone.
“The person who stopped them was the President. The person who told me was an external party in the same room.”
According to Obinna, the President allegedly defended him, saying:
“Achaneni na huyu kijana. Sasa tukianza kupiga vijana wadogo what are we doing? Hakuna kitu amefanya mbaya. Wachenia afanye mambo yake. Nobody should touch him.”
Obinna described the source of this information as “very credible,” insisting the warning aligned with earlier alerts he received from other respected figures.
Obinna Says a Prominent Media Personality Also Warned Him
Before receiving the message about the President’s alleged intervention, Obinna says he got an unexpected call from a major media personality whom he had never spoken to before.
“I got a call from a very big media personality whom we’ve never spoken before, who told me I should be careful,” Obinna said.
He added that the caller cautioned him about a potential threat from a “rogue individual,” urging him to reduce unnecessary movements and stay alert.

“He told me he had heard from credible sources that there is a rogue, so I should reduce my movements and be careful.”
Obinna did not disclose the identities of the individuals allegedly plotting against him, nor did he name the media personality or the external source who relayed the President’s message.

Public Reactions and Growing Concern
The revelations sparked wide debate online, with Kenyans questioning why the interview would provoke such hostility and what the alleged disgruntled individuals found objectionable.
Many viewers praised Obinna for speaking out, while others called for clarity, transparency, and possible investigations.
The claims also raise broader concerns about media freedom, intimidation, and the safety of journalists and content creators, especially when engaging with high-profile political figures.
Why the Interview Sparked Controversy: Key Takeaways from Riggy G’s Sit-Down
The interview between Obinna and Gachagua, which aired in mid-May 2025, was widely described as “no-holds-barred” and has generated major political fallout.
Some of the most explosive moments included:
A Financial U-Turn: Gachagua recanted his earlier claims about empty government coffers. He stated that while the Treasury was under strain when Kenya Kwanza came into power, “there was enough to get the country started… there was not a surplus or abundance, but there was enough money to get the country back on its feet.”
Allegations of Manipulation by President Ruto: Gachagua accused Ruto of using emotional appeals — including tears and appeals to faith — to win his political support.

He said that while Ruto publicly begged for his backing, the relationship later soured, and he felt manipulated.
Warnings of Electoral Violence: Gachagua made a controversial prediction about the upcoming 2027 elections. He cautioned that any serious mismanagement by the electoral commission could spark widespread unrest, adding:
“If the IEBC tries to mess with the elections, there will be no country here. 2007 will look like a Christmas party.”
New Political Direction: During the interview, Gachagua also discussed his newly launched Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), outlining his disillusionment with his previous political allies and vowing to pursue a more independent path.
The interview was not just politically charged; it appears to have triggered real consequences, according to Obinna.
